It's really tempting to return the laptop, eat the shipping and make the Japan trip have a more flexible budget. This is my laptop's cue to beep at me that the net car is flaking again.

*sigh* Maybe I should just return it. I don't need a laptop. I've already told my mom she's getting this one. It would disappoint her.

Maybe if I thought that returning it would actually fix all the problems it had. If I didn't dread having to return it N times like I have had to in the past with defective things, each time eating the shipping to send their defective product back to them.

EDIT: "just return it" means return it and get the money backand continue to use the current old one, not return it and ask for a new one.

Does not play well with others...

I went and go Sony brand CD-Rs and this seems to have made the recovery disk creation program happy and produced a disk that another machine booted under windows can read (we're not quite sure why linux coudln't ready it...)

Bottom line, I don't think that my laptop is actually broken. Now to find CDRs that my laptop can write and my older computers can read.

Sony's Costomer support SUCKS!

Ok, so the rive on my machine isn't bad, but there is a bit of memory,
so on tuesday a box will arrive, I pack it up, phone fed ex to pick it
up and maybe in two weeks I'll get a working one back. I should phone
them in 5 or so days after it leaves to see if they've actually
replaced anything.

It is highly likely that I will be requesting an RMA tomorrow and returning the laptop, eating the shipping and crying. Not necessarily in that order.
