squeek
A small grey mouse stands in a circle of cats. It's whiskers twich and it fights the urge to cower as the hungry eyes close in on it. It musters it's courage and says "Mewow." The cats' approach slows but doesn't stop. Twisted smiles come over their faces. "Hiss" says the mouse, but the cats' know the true nature of their prey.

The cats sit, waiting for more show. The mouse give it all it has growling and howling and wailing for it's life. The mouse stops, suddenly completely aware of where it is. The cats' eyes glint with hunger and the mouse turns to see each one in turn lick its lips in anticipation.

The moment is slowed, drawn out, so the mouse can cower for years knowing it's fate.

But then the mouse is silent.
