Today's WTF?
It's a usb midi controller with retro analog sounds and hook ups.

What next? Hybrid steam engine? How about hand cranked digital DVD camcorder?

There's very good reasons for wanting one. For one thing, analog recording still adds that fuzziness that some audiophiles adore.

Across the street from my parents in LA lives a musician by the name of Skip van Winkl. He still has a bunch of midi keyboards and foot pedals that he loves to death.

That'd be perfect for him 8)

In any case, I'd totally love either of those proposed ancient items ; )

I think it's an analog syth though, not a patch/mixer. I could understand an analog patch/mixer, but anlong sythn noises were just... ugly like florcent bell bottoms.

Oooh, I've gotta disagree there. Sure, they were brutally misused in a lot of cases as real instruments, but they were so excellent for some music. For example "Velvet Waters" by the Megatrons. I think the soundtrack to Fantastic Planet was analog synth too.
