...but i really like 2, maybe i just like 1 because i hadn't seen it before :)

i don't like 3 nearly as much as 1 or 2 though.

I think 3 would be really cool for larger scale images. At this scale you can barely see what it's doing. Certainly at first impressions it just doesn't convey the information as quickly as the first two. Oddly that's despite preserving more of the original image. I think 1 might be cooler for images that didn't result in so much blue. 2 works really nicely for this particular image.
