ask lj: mp3 woes
so this link: http://www.tmbw.net/upload/MP3s/A_Ton_Of_Stuff.mp3 plays fine under windows, but when I down load it and try to play it with mpg123, doesn't work. Can someone give this poor dinosaur some insight? Linux 'file' seems to think it's an mp3.

Works for me - Kubuntu Dapper, Version 0.59q (2002/03/23) of mpg123

It's a Dunkies commercial, right?

Clearly my problem is I have Version 0.59r.

Yah, it's one of the dunkin commericals. TMBG has been doing the music for them and I like a good handful of the songs. I'm kind of sad I can't find hte songs with out the voice over.

Since I couldn't play them, I couldn't tell that that particular one is not one of my favorites.

As it turns out, the beta mpg123 release wil lplay it, so you solved my problem! thank you. I'm kind of amused by the fix though:

Playing MPEG stream from Things_I_Like_To_Do.mp3 ...
Note: Junk at the beginning (0x49443303)
Note: Oh, it's just an ID3V2 tag...
