bad comcast
So comcast is forcing us to switch to digital before the end of the year, but the boxes they sent us use this weird new IR protocol that both our replay and our universal remote do not speak. The big box might listen to our universal remote, but I'm not holding out hope that our now, by eletronic's standards, ancient replay will be able to talk to anything.

Not happy.

No, I'm refering to our DVR. It's a replay TV with a life time membership of schedule service. We've owned it for about ~7 years or so, which is why the IR blaster can't work with the new boxes. After some research on the net, it looks like the boxes we got sent, the pace DC50X don't even talk to our beloved universal remote either because of a change in the IR protocol for that model. Our remote might talk to the main motorola base box, but it still seems the replay will not. We do not relish paying another $10/month more for a comcast DVR given we're already finding the $50/month for our cable service a bit taxing.

PVR used to be the old name for DVRs. I'm just a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to DVRs.

And yes, I love my DVR, which is why I know for me that TV without it would be a sad thing.
